Who is Kara?
Karahan Kadırman, also known as Kara, blends ethnic-electronic, new age, synth-dream-ambient, funk, and electro dance-trance styles in his music. As a composer, songwriter, and vocalist, he also plays alto saxophone, ney, synthesizer, percussion, and computer-based instruments. Kara’s songs merge two worlds through their lyrics and music.
He is the founder of the Electro Dervishes group, which combines Sufi music, shamanic rhythms, and electronic sounds. He also creates pieces in Anatolian dance forms. In both life and music, he challenges conventional aesthetic structures. His lyrics often lack choruses and instead feature repetitive reminders.
